Andrew Benson
Andrew Benson is an experimental animator and media artist based in Los Angeles, California. He discovered analog video feedback for the first time at age 13, and later reflected, “It was at that moment, staring into the electric vortex, that I became a media artist for life.” He studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute in parallel with independently exploring music and electronics. Now, his gestural, saturated works have been performed and exhibited internationally through screenings, festivals, museums, and galleries both on and offline. Collaboration with musicians is also an integral part of his practice, and over the years he has developed visual performances and videos for Aphex Twin, Clipping, M.I.A., and many others.
